Franklin, Tenn. (December, 2017) – As part of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl’s community outreach, Carson Shacklett, a senior from Brentwood High School, has been named the recipient of the Franklin American Mortgage Tradition of Service Award. The award is given to the Middle Tennessee high school athlete who best exemplifies athletic, academic, and community service excellence. Shacklett, age 17, was recognized at the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl Coaches Luncheon on Dec. 28, 2017.

Shacklett was a four-year varsity letterman and two-year starter at quarterback, leading Brentwood High School to the playoffs in 2016 and 2017. He was a semi-finalist for Mr. Football, was named first team All-State by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association, and was awarded Gateway Tire High School Football Player of the Year for Williamson County in 2017. Additionally, he was named the 2017 Division 6A MVP, as well as Region Offensive MVP in 2016, and All-District in 2016 and 2017.

With a 4.25 GPA, Shacklett is a member of the National Honors Society. He is also active in his community, accumulating over 100 hours of community service volunteering at the Nashville Rescue Mission, Goodwill, the Special Olympics, and 1 Team 1 Goal – an organization that works with special needs children through athletics. He is actively involved in the Act Like a Champion (ACT) program at Brentwood High School as well as being a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and his church youth group.
